MARGAO: Goa Pradesh Congress Committee (GPCC) general secretary Joe Dias said that the party is firm on expelling Dabolim MLA Mauvin Godinho for his anti-party activities. Addressing the media, Dias said, “GPCC president Luizinho Faleiro will go by the resolution taken earlier to expel any party member and MLA who does anti-party activities. Faleiro will hold a meeting in next few days to discuss the issue of expulsion of Godinho and expel him within a week.”
Dias challenged Godinho to resign as MLA and give up his party membership rather than waiting for the party to expel him. He said, “We are hurt by his statements against the party. The party will not entertain those who work against it. If Godinho has so much faith in BJP, he should resign and re-contest on BJP ticket.”
When questioned, Dias said that Godinho did not openly canvass for the rival party like Atanasio Monseratte and hence he was not expelled instantly. GPCC vice president of South Goa Menino D’Silva said that the Congress party is preparing ground for the next election and expulsion of party members for anti-party activities is part of this preparation.
