Yash Fadte retains title

Panaji: Goa’s Yash Fadte successfully defended his U-19 Western Slam Squash Championship title after getting the better of Maharashtra’s No 1 player Neel Joshi 3-0 in the finals played at Bombay Gymkhana, Mumbai on Tuesday.

Seventeen-year-old Yash, who was top-seeded in the championship, emerged victor without dropping a single set.

In the quarterfinals, Yash defeated Advait Adik of Maharashtra 3-0 while in the semifinals he outclassed Chandigarh’s No 1 player Prithvi Singh with an identical margin. Yash, the current India No1 in the junior rankings, will next feature in the PSA Professional Squash Championship and the Indian Junior Open to be held in New Delhi.
