Xavier bags first medal for Goa




Goa’s Xavier D’Souza made the state proud at the Khelo India Youth Games, being held at Balewadi Sports Complex Pune, by clinching the first medal. He won a bronze in the 200 metres freestyle swimming boys U-21 category, finishing with 1.57.62 on the clock.

In the girls category, Goa’s Suman Patil missed the podium twice and finishing fourth in two separate events one in the 200 metre freestyle and the other Butterfly stroke. In the freestyle event she clocked 2.25.37 while in 50 meter Butterfly she finished with 0.31.69 on the clock.

Sachi Gramsuphadyay finished 5th in the 200 meter freestyle event, timing it at 2.26.19 secs. She came in 7th in the 800 meter freestyle event clocking 11.15.69.

Kiran Narvekar finished a close 8th in the 800 meters freestyle putting on a time of 11.19.87.
