In a bid to revive Primary Agricultural Cooperative Societies (PACS) in the state, the Goa State Cooperative Bank (GSCB) organised a workshop-cum-meeting of PACS (Vividh Karyakari Seva Sahakari Saunstha) recently. The workshop on January 18, aimed at restarting non-functional PACS and creating awareness of the existence of Cooperative Development Fund (CDF) with NABARD for strengthening the sector. PACS are eligible for funding from the CDF for creation of infrastructure facilities towards enhancing business, increasing profitability, mobilizing deposits etc.
The welcome speech was by Ulhas Phaldessai, chairman, GSCB. Ajay Nayak, manager NABARD, gave a presentation on the fund and answered queries from participants on availing the grant assistance. Pandurang Sawant, assistant registrar of cooperative societies, central zone, Panaji appealed to the participants to make use of the fund. Upasso Gaonkar, Premanand Chawdikar and Krishna Kudnekar directors, GSCB guided the participants on the fund. The vote of thanks was by Pandurang N Kurtikar, vice chairman, GSCB.
