A 15-day special drive held by the traffic police against the vehicles with tinted glasses saw over 4,200 cases and against the improper number plates, there were around 254 cases.
The police said that apart from regular enforcement of traffic laws, special drives are being held from time to time.
In the last 7 months the police have penalised around 1.19 lakh two-wheeler riders for not wearing helmet while riding and 2,411 riders have been penalised for triple seat riding.
The police said that there were around 236 cases pertaining to underage rider/driver and without licence there were 2831 cases.
According to the police, during this period, 1,976 motorists have been penalised for dangerous riding/driving, over-speeding 3,590 cases and use of mobile while riding/driving there were 842 cases.
The police said that special drives are also conducted against drunk driving, riding without helmet, without driving licence, rash and negligent driving, overspeeding, underage rider/driver apart from regular enforcement of traffic laws. Rash and negligent driving/riding is the main cause of accidents, the police said adding that in order to minimise the road accidents and fatalities, strict enforcement of traffic laws is carried out.
