Vedanta’s bags energy efficiency awards for Goa plant

Vedanta’s value added business (VAB), Goa,  bagged two prestigious energy awards for innovation and efficiency  at the recently held CII National Energy Efficiency Circle Competition 2020. The awards were presented by Dr Rene Van Berkel, UNIDO representative in India and Abhay Bakre, director general,  Bureau of Energy Efficiency, ministry of power, N Delhi. 

On behalf of Vedanta, Ashish Dhanopia, Dhiraj Agarwal, Sanjeev Tiwari and Babaji Pagire were present at the award ceremony through virtual platforms.

Stating that the awards are proud moment for Goa operations, Sauvick Mazumdar, CEO, said, “The success reiterates the company’s commitment for achieving higher scale in the area of sustainability through innovations. These recognitions will further inspire our teams to achieve greater heights and setting up new benchmarks in sustainable and  energy efficient business practices.”

Navanath Vhatte, director, said that the VAB team is committed to innovate further and devise business processes which are in complete harmony with maintaining socio-ecological balance. Vedanta’s plant in Amona uses environment-friendly non- recovery type of coke making technology coupled with two waste heat recovery power plants which produces green power using blast furnace gases and coke oven flue gases (COFG). The objective of the CII awards is to recognise excellence in energy management in industries and to facilitate sharing of information by energy efficient companies.
