Vedanta Goa on July 11 announced two projects in Amona for the benefit of the local community. The company renovated the Amona village panchayat ground and commenced construction work for the compound wall of the Mahadev temple in the village.
Chief Minister Pamod Sawant, laid the foundation stone for the construction wall and inaugurated the renovated panchayat playground. Lauding Vedanta’s initiatives, the Chief Minister said that, upgrading village infrastructure is of utmost importance for overall development of communities. “I am sure that the renovated panchayat playground will help in promotion of sports in the village and will benefit all sections of the village community for healthy life,” he said.
All safety, hygiene and social distancing measures were adopted at the event given the present circumstances of the ubiquitous COVID pandemic. Others present in the occasion included, Kashinath Mhato, sarpanch, and Amona panchayat members, Govind V Naik, headmaster, Government High School, Amona, Sauvick Mazumdar, CEO, NL Vhatte, director, Vedanta, members of Shantadurga Devasthan Committee, employees and villagers.
