Vedanta’s iron ore division, Amona, inaugurated two more computer lab facilities at Vividha Higher Secondary School, Navelim and Sarvodaya High school, Usgao. With the two labs, the company has 11 computer facilities in the state benefitting 3000 students so far. The brand new computer lab facilities is expected to boost computer based e-learning program among students.
The computer lab at Sarvodaya High School, Usgao was inaugurated by Narendra Sawaikar, former MP, South Goa in the presence of Joseph Coelho, director, Iron Ore Goa, while the lab at Vividha Higher Secondary was inaugurated by Digambar Kamat, MLA, Margao in presence of Saptesh Sardessai, COO, Coke & Power, Vedanta, Mayuri Gawas, sarpanch, Navelim along with the school PTA members, management committees, its teaching staff and students.
Speaking on the occasion, Kamat said, “In today’s technologically driven and digitalized world, this initiative will help the students equip themselves in emerging as technocrats and gaining benefits of computer based learning.” Sauvick Mazumdar, CEO, Vedanta Sesa Goa, said, “Community development is the vital element of our business model and we will continue to contribute our maximum efforts towards the socio- economic upliftment of the community” Pointing out that the computer labs are a CSR initiative for the company, Coelho, added, “Though mining industry is going through tough time, we continue with our flagship CSR programs.
