VASCO: Minister for Public Works Department (PWD) Deepak Pauskar said that all the issues ‘related’ to the PWD in Vasco will be resolved by December 19.
Pauskar was speaking to the press persons at Sao Joao celebration, organised by Bhutea Bhat Club (BBC) at St Sebastian Chapel, Bhutea Bhat Baina, Vasco, on Monday in the presence of Vasco MLA Carlos Almeida, club president Ravi Luis, former MMC chairperson Deepak Naik, councillor Yatin Kamurlekar, former director of GTDC Jayant Jadhav, executive engineer of PWD Angelo Barros, assistant engineer Pandurang Naik and others.
“The issues such as hot-mix carpeting of roads, erratic water supply besides construction of drains under the PWD in Vasco will be granted administrative and financial approval by the state government, and all the files will be cleared by December 19. I ensure that all the works which are pending will be cleared by December 19,” he said.
He admitted that there was a shortage of asphalt this year, and due to that most of the works of hot-mix carpeting of roads were either delayed or could not be taken up.
“I will take all the necessary precautions so that the state does not fall short of asphalt after the rains. The proposed hot-mix carpeting of F L Gomes Road in Vasco will be taken up after the monsoon,” said Pauskar.
He also assured that all the pending works in Vasco will be taken up on a priority basis after Diwali.
Speaking over the shortage of water supply in some areas of Vasco, the PWD Minister said that “Vasco will get water supply for 18 hours after the commissioning of the JICA project.”
He opined that about 15 per cent work of JICA project is still pending.
“The contractor had abandoned the work, and so, the government decided to terminate his contract. The remaining work has been retendered as per the new GSR, and the work is expected to commence very shortly,” said Pauskar.
He told that the people from Vasco will get water supply for 18 hours from December 19.
He praised the Vasco MLA Almeida for constantly following up the development works.
