UP native arrested for Mapusa stall fire

MAPUSA: Mapusa police have arrested a UP native in connection with a fire incident reported on February 27 in Mapusa market wherein three stalls were gutted, resulting in a loss of Rs 5 lakh.

One of the stall owners Suresh Morjakar had lodged a complaint with the police suspecting involvement of a person.

The Mapusa police had registered an offence under Section 436 of Indian Penal Code against the suspect Jangilelal Yadav.

During the course of investigation, the police received reliable information that Yadav had gone back to his native place. Accordingly, a team led by PSI Paresh Ramnathkar left for Uttar Pradesh and caught the alleged accused and brought him back to Goa. He was placed under arrest for committing mischief by setting blaze to the complainant’s footwear shop in Mapusa market, which spread around and also gutted another two stalls.

Under the supervision of DySP Serafin Dais and PI Tushar Lotliker, PSI Paresh Ramnathkar is investigating the case.
