Under Covid-19 shadow, 19,000-odd students answer first major SSCE paper



The examination for the first major paper of the SSC – first language – was conducted on Saturday, with the Goa Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education successfully handling the logistics for 19,000-odd students answering this exam.

Altogether 19,127 students appeared for the exam, including 18,904 in Goa, 190 in Maharashtra, 33 in Karnataka and 338 CWSN students. In all 91 students were absent.

A total of 1,702 blocks were used for the examination, out of which 594 had functional CCTV cameras.

The students followed Corona pandemic-related guidelines namely maintaining social distance, cleaning hands with sanitiser and wearing mask.

The body temperature of the students was checked with thermal gun before they entered the examination hall. Incidentally 2 students were found with abnormal temperature however they answered the exam in isolation, till the final bell. Later on their temperature was found to have become normal.

The SSC exam started on May 21, with students answering pre-vocational and NSQF papers on May 21 and May 22, respectively. The exam for mathematics paper will be conducted on May 26. The exam ends on June 6.
