Having won the hearts of Goans with their music earlier, Six String Production is now all set to make their mark at the national level. The team has produced an anthem titled ‘One Love One Life’ for the North East Futsal League (NEFL) to be held in Guwahati, Assam. Musician Georgie N Dias has sung and written the song while the rap has been done by Sharlaine Menezes.

Both are looking forward to perform for the opening ceremony of NEFL at Karmabir Nabin Chandra Bordoloi AC Indoor Stadium, Guwahati on August 25.

Dias, a member of Six String Production says that the anthem all came about when they came across an advert on social media regarding a hunt for a production company that could compose the Futsal Anthem 2019. “We thought that the opportunity was too good to be missed and hence applied for the same. The NEFL team reviewed our previous videos ‘Wave your Flag’ and ‘Dispara la Meta’, and assigned the official anthem contract to us. The anthem, I personally feel, is a really good opportunity for our production house,” says Dias.

Once the contract was signed the team decided to have a rapper. Dias says that since male rappers are too mainstream, they decided to have a female rapper. “A few months ago, I had come across a young singer Sharlaine on social media. So I got in touch with her. She showed interest in this project and then we worked together on it,” says Dias, who is part of the band ‘Runks’ and also teaches music at Tiger Studio of Parvatibai Chowgule College.

Dias’ inspiration for lyrics has always been very random. He either goes to places that have a beautiful view or sits outside late into the night and stares at the open sky. “A few friends and I were at the beach, when we began coming up with words for the anthem,” says Dias, adding that this is the very first time in India that there will be a mixed gender futsal league and thus they are looking forward to this tournament.

For Menezes, a student of Don Bosco College, Panaji, rapping was never something she liked.

However, one day she happened to listen to ‘Can’t Hold Us’ by Macklemore and before she knew it she had memorised the lyrics. This then led her to take part in various intercollegiate rap competitions where she won a couple of prizes. “I have rapped for various inter collegiate events at Parvatibai Chowgule and St Xavier’s College, and was overwhelmed by the response to my performance,” she says.

Menezes writes her own raps. The rap bit in the anthem was also written by her. And, she says that this opportunity was all in her fate.
