Continuing with its initiative of highlighting the achievements of lesser known Goans, jewellery brand TNS Jewellers selected Misbah Usman Shaikh as Goa’s Jewel. Every month TNS sets out to find the hidden Goa’s Jewel and this month the winner was 17-year old Shaikh.
Student of St Xavier’s College, Mapusa, Shaikh broke stereotypes by getting the highest marks in Sanskrit at the Goa Board Higher Secondary Examination. A keen learner and hardworking student she is now an inspiration to many for scoring a century in the ancient language of Sanskrit.
The selection of Shaikh was by a selection committee comprising Mac Vaz, director, Madame Rosa Distillery, Roxana Singh, head of department, Carmel College for Women, Sharah Qazi, programme officer, department of women and child development, Sangeeta Shetye, area manager, Goa, Oman Air, and Jeffrey Manual, master of ceremonies.
A 75-year brand, TNS Jewellers in Goa has two stores in Margao and Panaji. The brand offers more than 6000 designs and is popular among Goan jewellery shoppers. During the Goa’s Jewel function, TNS also launched its Father’s Day collection.
Besides the accolade from TNS, Shaikh is also offered coaching scholarship from Abhyankar’s IAS Academy, Pune, that conducts training for UPSC and GPSC aspirants. from goa , has offered Misbah a scholarship.
