For a lot of a people including celebrities, Goa is their favourite destination and an ideal place for special occasions, be it a wedding, holidays, birthday celebrations, etc. Recently, Indian playback singer Sukhwinder Singh too celebrated his birthday in Goa. The Bollywood singer says that Goa keeps him happy, relaxed, and stress-free. “Goa is my favourite destination to get away from my professional life. I can be myself here. After a vacation from Goa, I am ready to face any work challenge in Mumbai,” he says.  And this is why he chose to celebrate his special day here. “This place and the ambience make me feel really comfortable. I had my best birthday celebrations in Goa,” he says.

Having achieved a lot in his music career, for Sukhwinder, music is “like worshipping God” and he has devoted his life to it.

“I have always learned from my past work experiences and I implement all my learnings in the present. I make sure that I do not repeat the same mistakes. Opportunities always came my way so I never counted those fabulous achievements which came to me,” says Sukhwinder, adding that music is his strength and has given him a sense of positivity. “I receive so many blessings and best wishes from my fans that they are like my family today,” he says.

Popular nationally and internationally, Sukhwinder has lured the audience with hits songs like ‘Chaiyya Chaiyya’, ‘Hud Hud Dabangg’, ‘Dabangg Reloaded’, ‘Jai Ho’, the ‘Sultan’ title track, ‘Kar Har Maidan Fateh’, and so on. And like every singer, he too has his own formula to try and create a hit song.  “My formula is my sincerity towards my work, my passion, and also my love for singing, song recording, or performing live. I have never regretted singing any song till date. Every song that came my way, I gave it my best,” he says.

Sukhwinder considers all the songs that he has done till date as his favourites. “I am totally in love with all of them. Whenever I perform my songs on stage, I see my audience enjoying and grooving to my songs and looking at them enjoying makes me feel happy.”

And the fact that he has generated hits for around two decades clearly shows that he is aware of what the audience wants from movie songs. “I have sung according to my music directors’ demands along with my touch. I have sung in many different genres and tried entertaining people and giving them the songs they want,” he says. “Nowadays people are stressed in their day-to-day life and this makes people more aggressive and tense. So music is the best way to keep people calm and stress-free. Thus, all entertainers must make sure to create good music that has a positive impact on people’s life.”

In the 20 years of his music career, he says that many things have changed, from the recording of songs to sound technology. Now, he says, everything is done with new age technology.

“With the advantage of new technology we have ignored the disadvantages of the same. Now many musicians are dependent on this technology and they have lost their natural impact on songs as we had in the past,” he says.

Speaking of how the Oscar award winning song, ‘Jai Ho’ from ‘Slumdog Millionaire’, which won everyone hearts changed his life, he says that winning an Oscar and a Grammy is a great thing to happen for any musician. “I was very happy and proud at the same time to receive it. This changed my life in a positive manner. I used to work hard before getting the Oscar but after receiving it, I started working even harder,” says Sukhwinder.

Currently he has signed on for upcoming movies ‘Houseful 4’, ‘Shamshera’, and a couple of more projects.
