A new Taj hotel property is opening shortly in Dona Paula, besides Cidade De Goa. The 299-room, Taj Hotel and Convention Center is positioned as an urban convention hotel in resort setting and is tentatively scheduled for February 14 unveiling.
The Valentine Day opening though is likely to be on invitation only while the formal launch is couple of days later. Online check reveals that the hotel site is already open for bookings with bookings accepted from March 1.
According to Vincent Ramos, general manager, Taj Hotel and Convention Center and area director, Indian Hotels, the new hotel is going to be one of the best new properties of the Taj group. “The hotel is modern and contemporary as well as Goan in all respects. Our logo is the state animal, the Gaur. The local wild bison is our mascot and the hotel will be showcasing Goan heritage,” he says.
Vincent adds that, the soon-to-be- aunched property has loads of ambience. “There is lot of positivity in the ambience. It looks like you’ve come to the Western Ghats when you arrive at the entrance of the hotel,” he says.
The view is one of the USP. “The hotel has uninterrupted view of the Zuari river and the Arabian Sea. The sky gaze which is at the top of the building is something unique due to the infinity pool.” Ramos adds that, the hotel character is built around local lore. “Dona Paula is always been a love story. So the new hotel is a romantic property,” he says.
As for the pricing, the room tariff is likely to be on par with the Taj Exotica and the Taj Fort Aguada resort. “Our unique points of the upcoming hotel are the infinity pool on the sky gaze, the best food and beverage outlets and the services on offer,” says Ramos.
Coming to the facilities the new property has four meeting rooms, two board rooms, a convention center, ballrooms and banqueting area. The ballrooms spread over 13,000 sq. ft of area are said to be the biggest in the state as they can take in more than 1,000 guests. On the gastronomy front, the hotel will have restaurants and bars which includes a rooftop restaurant and Banyan Bar.
