Stepping it up


Tiatr Academy of Goa (TAG) recently organised the annual All Goa Inter-School Choreographic Dance Competition on recorded Konkani songs on patriotism/national integration/communal harmony. This year, the competition was held in collaboration with Rajiv Gandhi Kala Mandir, Ponda in two categories ie Class 1 to 4 and Class 5 to 10, at the Rajiv Gandhi Kala Mandir, Ponda.

In the first category (Class 1 to 4), Vidhya Vruddhi School, Ponda took home the first prize while Deepvihar Primary School, Headland Sada, Vasco and Bhatikar Model Primary School, Margao won second and third place respectively. Amit Rajput and Akshay Anwekar of Vidhya Vruddhi School, Ponda won the title of Best Choreographer.

In the Class 5 to 10 category, Ravindra Kelekar Dnyan Mandir, Margao won first place while Vidhya Vruddhi School, Ponda and Bhatikar Model High School, Margao won second and third place respectively. Suchita Velip of Ravindra Kelekar Dnyan Mandir, Margao won the Best Choreographer award. The competition was judged by dance choreographers Saish Naik, Amandeep Dutt and Ankita Nai. The winners won cash prizes, mementos and certificates.

Vice chairman of Rajiv Gandhi Kala Mandir, Ponda, Shantaram Kolvekar was the chief guest and gave away the prizes in the presence of member secretary of Tiatr Academy of Goa Cezar D’Mello. President of TAG and director of Art and Culture Department, Goa, Gurudas Pilarnekar was also present for the function.
