Sporting Club rally to reach quarters

 

CURTORIM: Sporting Club of Davorlim rallied from behind to defeat Parish Youth, Nuvem  4-2 and enter the quarterfinals of Curtorim Gymkhana Cup football tournament in an exciting match played at church grounds, Curtorim on Thursday.

Parish Youth, Nuvem, who started well, shot into the lead in the very  13th  minute of play when striker Inacio Colaso dodged two Davorlim defenders after Stanley Colaso passed the ball to him, to send  an elegant effort that totally  beat Davorlim keeper Rosefern Miranda.

Sporting Club of Davorlim ,who  did not take much time to settle down , levelled  through Paxton Gomes in the 18th minute  when medio Selvy Miranda passed the ball to him. The low level shot had no answer from Parish Youth, Nuvem keeper Joel Colaso.

The match then began to be played at  break-neck speed with the ball going on from one end to the other. The teams displayed a lot of courage and character to play an attacking game throughout.

Both the teams depended on short passes and sudden counter forays which made the proceedings quite exciting.

Sporting Club of Davorlim went into the lead when Mark Borges bulged the nets off a cross from Paxton Gomes in the 21st minute.

Parish Youth Nuvem, retaliated and leveled the score through Jorose Oliveira, whose scorching shot off a pass from Rosario gave no chance to the Davorlim keeper.

The second half  belonged to Sporting Club of Davorlim.They  scored two quick goals through Clifton Rebelo and Mark Borges, who completed his brace .

Clifton Rebelo found the mark, when defender Vincent Colaso made an upfront move and sent a defence splitting pass to unmarked Clifton who lost no time in slamming the ball in the 37th minute.

In the 39th minute, Mark Borges scored his second goal  off a pass from Milton Rocha to put the match beyond the reach of their rivals.
