GSCU to celebrate Co-operative Week

PANAJI: The Goa State Co-operative Union Ltd, Panaji will celebrate the 61st Co-operative Week. The inaugural function will be held on November 14 at Dhavali Ponda at 10 a.m. The following awardees will be felicitated this year: Best Co-operator – Ramakant Soiru Angle, ex-South Goa MP and chairman, Madgao Urban Co-operative Bank Ltd, Margao; Best Chairman – Gurudas Krishna Dhulapkar, The Mapusa Consumers’ Co-operative Society Ltd, Mapusa; Best Secretary – Jagannath Shivaji Naik, Kurdi Vividh Karyakari Sahakari Seva Society Ltd, Kurdi, Sanguem; Best Society – The Goa Shipyard Employees Co-operative Credit Society Ltd, Vasco-da-Gama; certificate of appreciation –  MES Staff Co-operative Credit Society Ltd, Vasco-da-Gama and The Bicholim Merchants Urban Cooperative Credit Society Ltd, Bicholim. Also, the Thrift Co-operative Association Ltd in collaboration with the Goa State Co-operative Union Ltd and Margao Hospicio Health Service Employees Co-op Credit Society Ltd, Margao will be celebrating Co-operative Week on November 16 at 10.30 a.m. at Thrift Association hall, Ponda.  NT


6th IAFA creates record with over 16,000 ad films entries

MUMBAI: This year, Mumbai played host to the 6th edition of world’s online ad film making contest. The Iceplex Ad Film Awards (IAFA), an initiative by the Ryan International Group of Institutions, started Six years ago to broaden the outlook of students by giving them a platform to showcase their talents. The three categories for which children made ad films were environment, safety and health, and beauty. For these categories over 16,000 entries from across the country were received.


Dena Bank net profit declines

MUMBAI: Dena Bank’s net profit declined by over 51 per cent to Rs 51.58 crore in the second quarter ended September 2014 as against Rs 107.38 crore in the year-ago period. Total income has increased from Rs 2,599.94 crore for the quarter ended September 2013 to Rs 2,885.22 crore for the quarter ended September 2014. Its provisioning for bad loans was down at Rs 315.22 crore during the quarter from Rs 335.19 crore a year ago.
