The Ponda police, on Tuesday, informed that they have arrested a Chikengai-Shiroda youth for consuming liquor at a public place along with his six friends and thus violating the curfew in force.
The police said that the accused Mandar Prabhu (25) had arranged for drinks near Narayan temple, Borim.
The police informed that the incident occurred on Monday night, and added that the accused along with his six friends had arranged set for liquor party near Narayan temple, Borim.
Learning about the party, some locals informed the police and soon the police rushed to the spot.
As the group, which had gathered for the liquor party, noticed the police jeep coming, six of them managed to flee the spot, however the police could lay their hands on Mandar Prabhu.
The police informed that Mandar Prabhu
was arrested for flouting the order duly promulgated by the District Magistrate, South Goa, Margao, bearing no 37/19/2020/L&O/MAG/3169, dated 22/03/2020 for curbing the spread of infectious disease – COVID-19.
The accused has been booked Section 188 and Section 269 of IPC. Further investigation is under progress.
