The Minister of State for Shipping (Independent Charge), Chemical and Fertilisers Mansukh Mandaviya took stock of the port operations and the proposed cruise terminal complex which is planned to be constructed at berth no-1 and 2.
Mandaviya was in Goa in order to take stock of the port operations along with his additional personal secretary Anilkumar Radadiya. He was earlier welcomed by the Minister for Protocol Mauvin Godinho on his arrival at Dabolim airport in the presence of MPT chairman Dr E Ramesh Kumar.
Mandaviya along with MPT chairman Dr Kumar, deputy chairman, secretary, traffic manager and other officials of the port visited the wharf area starting from berth no-10, and proceeded towards finger berths, POL berth, JSW and Adani areas, WISL area and finally the cruise berth terminal. The port officials appraised Mandaviya about the functioning of the port.
Mandaviya was then taken on a cruise on the tug ‘MV Ocean Spirit’ from the cruise terminal and was apprised of the handling of vessels along the different berths.
The CISF personnel welcomed Mandaviya by giving a guard of honour at the main administrative building at Headland-Sada. He planted saplings and had a brief meeting with major unions of the port, SC/ST representatives of the port and representatives of officers association.
Different issues related to the port employees and functioning of the port was discussed on the occasion. A meeting was also held with the stakeholders, port HoD’s wherein the chairman explained through a power point presentation about the port operations.
