Financial services firm, Mangal Analytics and Research Consulting Pvt. Ltd., recently organised a seminar on currency risk management and SME capital funding in association with the National Stock Exchange (NSE) and the GCCI.
Sunil Gawade, vice president, business development, NSE made a detailed presentation on foreign currency risk management by introducing Exchange Traded Currency Derivatives (ETCD), benefits of ETCD and Futures and Options. Gawade also urged Goan companies to invest in government securities through NSE.
Gangandeep Singh, manager, SME activation, NSE, briefed the audience on the SME emerge platform which provides a great opportunity for SMEs to get listed at a fraction of the cost. Pointing out the advantages of listing, he said that, it allows the SMEs to get noticed and “paves the way for raising more fund, more business and strategic collaboration opportunities.” He said that, SME listing is beneficial over other financing options like bank loans, private equity, etc.
Ashutosh Kharangate, managing director, MARC, explained the difficulties faced by samll units in raising funds and shared his experience on SME listing. He encouraged local SMEs to consider this route. The seminar was attended by Sandip Bhandare, president, GCCI. The seminar was conducted on October 12.
