This year, the Selaulim dam reservoir overflowed a day earlier than the last year.
The executive engineer of PWD Anant Gaonkar informed that the dam reservoir started overflowing on Friday mid-night.
Gaonkar said that the problem of shortage of drinking water supply, which was being faced for the last some months, will be over now.
“The water supply had to be stopped during some intervals due to the rise of manganese content in the dam water,” he said.
“Due to the incessant rains during last some days the water has flown down through the catchment areas leading to the overflowing of the dam reservoir,” he added.
This year, a large number of people are expected to visit the dam to observe the scenic beauty here, and also the botanical garden situated besides the dam.
The botanical garden has become an attraction for the visitors here.
The work of the range forest officer Narayan Prabhudessai in maintaining and developing the botanical garden has been highly appreciated by the people.
