Vasco: The first international cruise vessel of the season ‘AIDAvita’ arrived in the state at the international cruise berth terminal at Mormugao Harbour on Sunday, bringing in 1181 tourists and 406 crew onboard from Muscat.
As per available information, the cruise liner arrived at Mormugao Harbour at around 8 am. The passengers were accorded a welcome by the Goa Tourism Development Corporation (GTDC) and MPT authorities by presenting them roses and also playing music. Apart from this, Goan folk dance was also organised on the occasion.
The officials from MPT disclosed that “The arrival of international cruise liner of this season would be a boon for the tourism industry in the state.”
“During this season in all 31 international cruise liners are expected to make their visit to the Mormugao Harbour, bringing in 55,000 tourists”, informed the MPT official.
It was disclosed that efforts will be made to bring in more international cruise liners this season. “Apart from international cruise liners, two domestic luxury cruise liners Angriya and Karnika are also making regular trips to Goa from Mumbai”, said the MPT official. The AIDAvita cruise liner departed from Mormugao Harbour for its further journey to Mangalore and Kochi on Sunday evening.
