Students of Industrial Training Institutes in the state put up a fine show of talent at the Kaushalya Jagruktay programme, a state level program organised by the Directorate of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship at Kala Academy to create awareness of the Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana (PMKVY), Apprenticeship Scheme.
Students from all the government owned ITI’s in the state put up stalls where they displayed range of skills. Courses under PMKVY are designed to impart employable skills and students at the stall gave a good demonstration for all that they learnt. Students displayed their skills in mixing drinks, doing makeup, dress-making, operating machinery, water harvesting, electrical circuits, etc.
The display at the stalls proved that Goan students are on par with their peers in other states in learning.
The programme was inaugurated by Vishwajit Rane, Minister for Skill Development and Entrepreneurship in the presence of battery of government officials such as Dipak Desai, director, Directorate of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, C Garg, secretary, Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, Capt. Kaustav Nath, state engagement officer, National Skill Development Corporation, Damodar Kotchkar, president, GSIA and Dr Praveen Khullar, president, Goa Pharmaceutical Manufacturers’ Association (GPMA).

Ravindra, Shaina Fernandes, Sadayo Keshav Melekar and Alan Fernandes, received the maximum of applause during the function.
The 2020 edition of the National Skill Competition is coming up during the year and 1056 students from ITI’s in the state have given their names. Winners get to participate in the World Skill Competition in Shanghai in 2021.
