Panaji: Chief Minister Pramod Sawant on Monday allocated portfolios to the newly-inducted ministers, besides effecting minor changes in the portfolios of three incumbent ministers.

Newly-inducted Deputy Chief Minister Chandrakant ‘Babu’ Kavlekar has been allotted the portfolios of town and country planning, agriculture, archives, archaeology and factories and boilers.

Michael Lobo has been given the newly-created waste management portfolio. He has also been allocated science and technology, port and rural development portfolios.

Jennifer Monserrate is the new Revenue Minister. She has also been allocated the portfolios of information and technology and labour and employment.

Filipe Neri Rodrigues has been allotted the portfolios of water resources, fisheries and legal metrology.

While allocating portfolios to the new ministers, Sawant also made minor changes in the portfolios of the incumbent ministers – Mauvin Godinho, Vishwajit Rane and Nilesh Cabral. As per the notification issued by the general administration department on Monday, the Chief Minister has removed animal husbandry and veterinary services portfolio from Godinho and allotted him housing as new portfolio. He continues to hold the portfolios of transport, panchayat raj, protocol and legislative affairs.

Law and judiciary portfolio has been divested of Rane. He has been given skill development portfolio, which he had held earlier. Rane continues to hold the portfolios of health, industries, trade and commerce, and women and child development.

Power Minister Nilesh Cabral has once again been allotted law and judiciary portfolio, even as he continues to hold the portfolios of environment and non-conventional sources of energy.

There is no change in portfolios of other ministers.

Meanwhile, Lobo took charge as the minister on Monday at the Secretariat. He has been allotted a chamber on the second floor in ministers’ block, which had earlier been occupied by former minister Pandurang Madkaikar.
