Samraat Club International (SCI) State 1 in association with host club Samraat Club Keri organised the Sankalp Conference 2020 at Sanskruti Bhavan hall, Art and Culture Department, Panaji.
Chief guest at the inaugural ceremony was director, SCI, Sandip Nigalye while the keynote speaker was former member secretary, Kala Academy Panaji, Pandurang Phaldesai. Also present on the dais were secretary, SCI, Nitin Velingkar; conference chairman, Deepak Narvekar; president, Samraat Club, Keri, Sarita Majik; president, SCI state 1, Prasad Naik; secretary, SCI state 1, Vilas Kunkolienkar; treasurer, SCI state 1, Uday Raikar; and Devidas Gawas.
The programme began with a Bharatanatyam performance and a welcome song. A floral welcome was given to the dignitaries followed by the lighting of the traditional ‘Maale’.
In his welcome address, state president Prasad Naik urged the gathering to continue to promote the rich traditions and culture of Goa through various activities of Samraat.
In his address, Phaldessai said that the core of Samraat Club is attached to society. “One must not forget one’s mother tongue: it is the soul of one’s all-round development. Also one must not forget the debts of society and must participate and organise different activities for its progress and betterment,” he said.
The process of election was conducted by Velingkar who announced Uday Kudalkar, Deepak Narvekar and Shailesh Borkar as the next lineage of SCI State 1. Addressing the gathering, Kunkolienkar elaborated on the different programmes conducted by various Samraat Clubs. One minute of silence was also observed in the memory of late Vallabh Samant of Samraat Club, Margao on the occasion.
