The Rotary Club of Miramar held its installation function. The club’s fourth president, Bhavana Raikar and secretary Anshul Singhal along with board of directors were installed for the year 2019 to 2020. The other members of the board who were installed comprised Ebrahim Haroon, Vijay Melvani, Priti Sheth, Manisha Sardesai, Pratima Dhond, Ridhvi Kamat Tarcar, Trupti Patil, Vijay Jain, Noel Britto, Kamlesh Amlani and Snehalata Pednekar. Committee chairman Seeya Navelcar, Megha Harmalkar, Shreyas Lotlikar, Nikita Shirsat, Omkar Vaigankar, Samrat Kamat and Lucky Singh were also installed on the occasion.
Chief guest and installing officer for the function was past district governor, Vinaykumar Pai Raikar and guest of honour was assistant governor, Ashish Verlekar. Though the Rotary Club of Miramar is just three years old, they have been conducting many community service projects and reaching out to the underprivileged and needy. Last year, under the leadership of Manisha Sardesai, the club constructed toilet blocks for schools, converted some schools in remote areas to ‘happy schools’ by providing all the amenities required and organised a ‘Flight of Inspiration’ by plane to Mumbai for students of National Association for the Blind. This year the Club has made arrangements to donate health kits consisting of stretchers, walkers, wheel chairs, nebulisers, etc to village panchayats of Goa for use of the villagers in times of need will be conducting health and dental camps in remote areas of the state and many more such community service projects.
