RM Salgaocar HSS holds annual day

Vidya Vikas Mandal’s, RM Salgaocar Higher Secondary School held its annual day and prize distribution function.

Chief guest for the day was the manager of the school managing committee and the principal of Shree Damodar College of Commerce and Economics, Prita Mallya while guest of honour was principal of VVM’s, Vidya Vikas Academy, Joble Bijoy.

Also present on the dais were vice president of the students’ council, Ujwala More and general secretary, Amogh Pai.

Principal, Cintia Borges e Abranches welcomed the gathering and read out the annual report of the academic year 2019-20. She listed the extensive list of the academic, cultural, Red Ribbon Club, French department, cconomics department, NSS Unit and sports activities held during the year.

In her report the principal said she was grateful to the management, the teaching and non-teaching staff for all the support to carry on her duties effectively.

Addressing the gathering, Mallya spoke about multiple intelligences and how this can have wonderful non-academic achievements. She stressed on the fact that students have to find out what they are good at and work on it. Mallya also suggested the school introduce more clubs such as a reader’s club, a commerce club, a tech club, etc, so students can build on their talents.

The prize distribution ceremony was held thereafter with the most studious student award was presented to Aadhya Kunkolienkar of general stream and Om Bhende of the vocational stream. Best sports award was awarded to Fazle Kadri and Angelica Gonsalves.

Nihal Naik was felicitated for being the first player to bring laurels to Goa by winning a gold medal in the under-19 boys (+82 kilograms) at the 65th National School Games held at Jabalpur.

The all-round student award was presented to Kainaaz Khatun. Principal’s award for the most sincere and hardworking student was awarded to Anushree Shirodkar. Trophies and certificates were presented to students who topped at the school and Goa Board Examination.

This was followed by a cultural entertainment programme. The main highlight of the event ended with a dance performed on the lives of soldiers at war.
