The 66th Republic Day was celebrated at Kendriya Vidyalaya INS Mandovi with a great deal of patriotic zeal and fervour. The students took pride in glorifying and celebrating the spirit of unity. The day began with the hoisting of the Indian flag by chief guest Minister for tourism, Dilip Parulekar. The guest of honor was commanding officer INS Mandovi, Sanjay D’ Cunha. The sarpanch of Reis Magos Kedar Naik along with deputy sarpanch Deepali Korgaonkar and panch members Subhash Pednekar, Sushmita Pednekar, Snehal Gaonkar, Shruti Chodankar were also present. The entire school courtyard reverberated with rhythmic beats of the national anthem where tri-colour flags fluttered in the air.
The school echoed with patriotic fervour as the children sang patriotic songs, and even wore tri-coloured clothes to mark the occasion. The events that followed included the Chhattisgarh dance by the secondary students. Vande Mataram song and dance was performed by the secondary students along with a scintillating group dance by class 10 students. Later sweets were distributed Dilip Parulekar and Capt Sanjay D’ Cunha.
The programme concluded with a speech by principal Anosh Samson where he passionately reminded students of the freedom struggle and emphasised how students of today hold the future of the country in their hands.
