Ramdev calls govt ‘liar’, asks to clear its stand on black money

NEW DELHI: Claiming to know the names of all those people whose black money is stashed in foreign banks, Yoga Guru Swami Ramdev Saturday asked the UPA government to clear its stand on the issue and said he will submit a detailed memorandum to the Prime Minister in this regard soon during a nationwide movement.

Calling the black money as the loot of country’s resources, the guru claimed that he has the names of the people, especially political leaders, whose black money is stored in the foreign banks.
"This is not merely tax evasion. It is the loot of national resources. I have the names of all the corrupt leaders whose money is there with foolproof evidence against them,’’ the Baba claimed.
When asked to disclose the names, he stated, ‘’This is not the right time to tell them. Though I am not afraid of anybody, let the right time come.’’
Hinting some, the Baba alleged that the names consist of leaders from both the ruling as well as the Opposition parties whose ‘black money’ amounts from ` 15 crore to ` 1500 crores.
He said on February 27, the day on which freedom fighter Chandrashekhar Azad sacrificed his life, thousands of people from all over the country, under the banner of his party Bharat Swabhiman, will submit the memorandum to Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh signed in their blood.
The spiritual guru added that he will also start a nationwide peaceful movement to bring about awareness amongst the people on the issue.
Accusing the Congress-led UPA government of being evasive on
the issue, he sought to know why it had still not signed the United Nation Resolution against corruption when 126 countries had already done so. ‘’On the one hand, the government claims that there are treaty problems in disclosing the names while on the other they are not ready to sign it. Does that mean the government then has the biggest share in the black money?’, ‘he commented.
He further asked the government to reveal the source and amount of black money stashed in Swiss banks. ‘’I am sure that the figure that has been reported is only a meagre amount of the actual figure,’’ he said.
According to Ramdev, the money had been accumulated because of illegal mining, bribe-taking, tax evasion and many other reasons.
"At least a lakh people in the country are involved in illegal mining with 31,600 cases already registered. It is the money they have earned in that,’’ he claimed.
Talking about the peaceful movement to be launched by him, he said further on March 23, this agitation will be held in more than six lakh villages.
"If the government will not clear its stand on the issue, the people will gherao them and the Parliament. Then they will no longer be able to stop the citizens from getting violent,’’ he warned.
