PWD engages 30 tankers to supply water to Panjimites


Panaji: Highly placed sources said that the public works department (PWD) has engaged 30 water tankers including private tankers to provide water to the residents of Panaji city.

According to the sources, the department has roped in private water tankers from other parts of the state along with PWD tankers to provide water in the capital city.

The residents of many areas are complaining that they are not getting water tankers despite registering their names in PWD offices. Two major pipelines were damaged on August 15 at Curti Khandepar after a retaining wall collapsed. Many people residing in the city are facing serious water crisis since the last five days.

It is also learnt that many people including government officials have sent their families either to their native villages or to their relatives’ places outside Tiswadi after the water shortage worsened.
