Process for Parrikar’s memorial set in motion



The government has selected the design prepared by UCJ Architecture and Environment for constructing Smriti Sthal or memorial of former Chief Minister the late Manohar Parrikar at Miramar beach.

Chief Minister Pramod Sawant on Tuesday chaired the meeting held at Secretariat to select architectural firm for designing late Parrikar’s memorial that will be built at Miramar.

Speaking to media persons after the meeting, Sawant said that the foundation stone for the construction of ‘Smriti Sthal’ of former Chief Minister the late Manohar Parrikar will be laid on December 13.

A total of 17 bids were received by Goa State Infrastructure Development Corporation, which is an executive agency of the project.

After initial round, five firms were selected to make presentation before the jury members, out of which four firms made their presentation during the meeting held on Tuesday. The firms which made presentation include Hiten Sethi Associates, Lokus Design Pvt Ltd, Rahul Deshpande and Associates, and UCJ Architecture and Environment.

Chief Minister informed that the design of UCJ Architecture and Environment was selected for Parrikar’s Smriti Sthal.
