The Directorate of Health Services on Friday signed an MOU with Healthway Hospital, Old Goa to partner under the STEMI-Goa project. The partnership is for a percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) hub for 24×7 angiography and angioplasty services.
The STEMI-Goa project is by the health department and Goa Medical College to reduce increasing mortality from heart attacks. After diagnosis using Tele-ECG (Tricog, Bengaluru) the patient is thrombolysed at 12 peripheral government hospitals which act as spokes or smaller hubs. Once stabilized, the patient is then referred to a PCI-capable hospital (hub) using Cardiac/ALS ambulance of GVK-EMRI.
This treatment is provided to patients free of cost. Patients referred from spokes of North Goa can now avail treatment at Healthway Hospital under DDSSY insurance scheme.
