KOHIMA: Kohima police manning the Khuzama Check Gate on the Nagaland-Manipur border on August 9, seized a huge consignment of brown sugar and psychotropic tablets estimated to be worth ` five crore in the international market.

Official sources said Saturday the police personnel manning Khuzama Check Gate intercepted a person, identified as one Nurul Haque (40 yrs) from Dharmanagar Halahali of Tripura, travelling towards Dimapur from Imphal. They recovered the huge quantity of contraband drugs from his possession.
The seizure, one of the biggest so far, contained around 2 kg of brown sugar, 100 grams of suspected heroin and 4,000 numbers of psychotropic tablets. The international market value of the drugs would be not less then ` five crore, sources said.
