Benaulim : Parish Youth, Nuvem hammered Varca SC 5-0 to enter the semifinals of 4th St Sebastian Cup tournament played at St John, the Baptist grounds, Benaulim on Thursday.
Parish Youth, Nuvem who dominated both the sessions of play were leading 3-0 at half time. The fleet footed attacking midfielder Gammy Costa scored a brilliant brace, finding the mark in the 40th and 60th minute, while the other goals were scored by Jose Colaso(18th minute), Jorose Oliveira(26th minute) and Inacio Colaso(35th minute).
Controlling the match for the major part of play, Parish Youth, Nuvem were all over the rival territory exchanging swift passes and playing a positional game to outplay their rivals in all the departments of the game.
Parish Youth, defence was rock solid in which Joss Vaz and Haison Velho were outstanding, while the midfield was managed by Joe Colaso and Gammy Costa.
Gammy Costa in particularly wove several moves feeding the forwards smartly to find the mark and as a matter of fact, himself scored two goals.
Parish Youth, keeper did not have to stretch at all, as the Varca SC team hardly had the chance to have a clear look at the goal.
Varca SC defence crumbled at the slightest pressure with only Quan Alemao standing tall for a while, but not for too long. The other Varca defender who played a good game was Dylon Lima, but when Parish Youth, Nuvem came up with well stitched moves, their citadel crumbled with their keeper being helpless and could do much to stop the Parish Youth, from finding the mark.
Tennyson Rebello and C Fernandes did make some moves in the midfield for Varca SC but they did not have enough support, neither from the other two medios nor the defenders, who failed to overlap.
Maclin Mascarenhas and Joanes D’Costa made some moves and twice came very close to find the mark but the Parish Youth, Nuvem keeper saved on both counts. In the last few minutes of play, Varca SC tried some long rangers which were way off the mark.
As time ticked by, Parish Youth, played a defensive game to walk as worthy winners after the final whistle .
