Navelim Sporting Club entered the semi-finals of CAC’s Three Kings Cup football tournament defeating CAC, Cansaulim 4-2 via the tie breaker played at TB Cunha Sports Complex grounds, Cansaulim on Sunday.
The teams played a goalless draw during the regulation time, despite having some fine chances to find the mark in either session of play.
Both the teams played a defensive game in either session of play. In the initial stages the teams tried some long shots to test the goalkeepers but their tries were off the mark.
The second session too was played on a cautious note and as the teams tried to gauge the strength of each other with some accelerating forays, the story continued once again in the same vein of going in for defensive play.
In the first session, Aulon Gomes and Rovan Pereira made two attempts, each with some powerful shots but the CAC, Cansaulim keeper Alison Soares responded with good saves.
Though the second session largely belonged to CAC, Cansaulim they were unable to find the mark even as Domnic Soares and Agnelo D’Souza tried some long shots, particularly in the last ten minutes of play.
In the tie breaker system, Navelim Sporting proved to be the better shooters, scoring accurately through Presley Gomes, Aulon Gomes, Aldred Fernandes and Mizio. CAC, Cansaulim could find the mark only through Prasad Bagi and Jossito Dias.
