Ponda police on Monday arrested Anil Pagare, a Nashik-Maharashtra-based visa consultancy service provider for duping Barazan-Usgao youth for Rs 2.60 lakh on the pretext of offering a job abroad.
A cheating case has been registered against the accused based on a complaint lodged by the victim youth Siddesh Mapari.
As per information, Mapari is working in a Verna-based industry and was promised a job abroad by Pagare in February and a deal was struck for Rs 3.50 lakh.
The youth allegedly paid the accused around Rs 2.60 lakh by availing a loan. First installment of Rs 40,000 was paid by cash during their meeting at Ponda and later other amounts was paid through net banking or deposited in the accused person’s account.
But the accused failed to employ the youth abroad.
Subsequently, the youth
inquired about Pagare and his agency
at Nashik and came to know that many people have been cheated by the agency.
The youth immediately filed a police complaint with evidences based on which police registered an offence under Section 420 of IPC.
The accused was arrested by the police on Monday from Nashik -Maharashtra. Further investigation is in progress.
