Name stand after Monte Cruz, Digambar urges CM

Leader of the Opposition Digambar Kamat, in a letter to the Chief Minister Pramod Sawant, has urged to name a stand at the Nehru stadium in Fatorda after former sports minister Monte Cruz, who is celebrating his 75th year.

The Fatorda stadium hosts the first ISL match of the 2019-20 season today and in his letter sent to the Chief Minister on the eve of the match, Kamat recounted the efforts put in by Monte to build the stadium in a record six months to enable Goa to host its first international football event in 1989.

“The contribution of Francisco Monte Cruz has to be recognized in his life time,” reads
Digambar’s note to the CM.
