Nalini’s entry into Goan waters will be probed: CM

PANAJI: Chief Minister Pramod Sawant on Thursday said that the government will conduct an inquiry to determine why the naphtha-laden tanker Nu Shi Nalini was allowed to enter Goan waters and how Mormugao Port Trust (MPT) could have prevented the incident from occurring in the first place.

The investigation will be carried out soon after unloading of naphtha and other oils from the vessel’s tank to a safe location within the MPT jurisdiction, he said.

The Chief Minister was speaking to media persons on the sidelines of the first edition of Manohar Parrikar Vidnyan Mahotsav, held at the National Institute of Oceanography (NIO) on Thursday. “The ship was refloated and taken to MPT on Wednesday night, so let the operation to transfer naphtha and other oils begin. Then we will start the inquiry,” he said
