The government has directed all its departments as well as educational institutions in the state to modify their existing parameters to include 10 per cent reservation for economically weaker sections in jobs and education.
Forwarding a copy of the related office memorandum of the central government under the Union ministry of personnel, to all state government departments/ offices, public sector undertakings and autonomous bodies for compliance, director of social welfare Parag Nargarsekar on Friday issued an office memorandum, which states, “It is, therefore, enjoined upon all the concerned departments/ educational institutions to give appropriate effect to the aforesaid office memorandum, and to modify the existing parameters in respect of reservation for the economically weaker sections, in accordance with the provision of aforesaid office memorandum.”
The state cabinet headed by Chief Minister Pramod Sawant earlier this month had approved 10 per cent reservation for the EWS of general category in education and employment.
The decision as regards such reservation had been taken by the National Democratic Alliance government at the Centre, earlier this year.
The admission process for the state educational institutions conducting professional courses has already commenced at the directorate of technical education. However, no arrangement has been made at these admissions, for implementing the 10 per cent EWSs quota yet.
