MG Hector deliveries begin in Goa

While the automobile industry is under recession, market response to the MG Hector is in the fast lane. In Goa few Hector’s are already on the roads and according to sources at the dealership, Priority Autolincs Pvt. Ltd (MG Goa), Taleigao, Goans are the enthusiastic to the brand.

Recently the first few hectors were delivered by Parind Nachinolcar, managing director of Group Priority and Gaurish Sakhardande, CEO, Priority Autolincs. According to Nachinolcar, proud owners of the MG Hector were overwhelmed to get their hands on the first internet of cars technology.

Deliveries of the Hector are ongoing in all states. Reports suggests that, the Hector has received more than 13,000 bookings, all-India. The top-end trim of the car comes equipped with features such as 10.4 inch touch screen infotainment system, electrically adjustable driver and front passenger seat, 360 degree view parking system, leather upholstery, seven inch MID and hill hold and descent control. The Hector was launched with a price tag in the range of Rs 12.2 lakhs to Rs 16.9 lakhs

Engine options for the MG Hector include a 1.5-litre petrol unit that is offered with a six speed manual transmission and a DCT gearbox. There is also a 2.0-litre diesel motor that comes paired to a six speed manual transmission. The petrol motor is also available with a 48V hybrid option and comes mated to a six speed manual transmission. The Hector is said to be a rival to the Creta, Jeep Compass and the Mahindra XUV500.

According to market reports, the top variants, Smart and Sharp are garnering the most attention while the petrol variants account for over 50 per cent of the reservations. The DCT variant, meanwhile, is the most in demand, having attracted 70 per cent of the bookings till date. The mild-hybrid variant accounts for 15 per cent of these numbers. MG is planning to increase monthly production at its Halol facility by 3000 units starting from October. The brand will share the opening date for the next batch of bookings soon. 

The MG Hector  is available in a total of four variants: Style, Super, Smart and Sharp. It comes with two engines, a 1.5-litre turbo petrol and a 2.0-litre diesel motor. The 1.5-litre petrol motor is good for  143PS of power and 250Nm of torque. It is also offered with a 48V mild-hybrid system which improves the fuel efficiency by 12 per cent.
