Opus Gala presents, ‘Duo Corda’, a violin duo comprising of violinists Sanya Myla Cotta and Joris Decolvenaer. They will be joined by the pianist Nadine Crasto from Mumbai. The concert will held on June 25 at Institute of Menezes Braganza, Panaji at 7 p.m.
The concert will feature performances of duos by Shostakovich and a special arrangement of G F Handel/Halvorsen’s Passacaglia by Marleen Dupont. There will also be solo performances by Sanya Myla Cotta and Joris Decolvenaer.
This performance will kick start their India tour as after this Goa concert they will also perform in Mumbai, Bangalore and Pune.
Sanya and Joris who arrived in Goa earlier this month commenced the third instalment of their ongoing series of masterclasses for Violin. The concert by the students of this masterclass will be held on June 28 at 5.30 p.m. at ICG, Dona Paula. It is co-organised by The International Centre Goa and Opus Gala.

Sanya Myla Cotta
Sanya Myla Cotta began her studies at the age of three at the Conservatory of Hamburg. She won the first prize as solo violinist at the youth competition ‘Jugend musiziert’. On her return to Goa at the age of 12, she continued her studies under Myra Shroff, obtaining distinction at the Associate Diploma (ATCL, Trinity College of Music, London), a Licentiate from the Royal School of Music, London(LRSM) and a Fellowship from the Trinity College of Music, London(FTCL).
In 2012, she was a member of the World Youth Orchestra.
In the season 2011-2012, Sanya won the audition for the academy at the State opera house of Hesse in Wiesbaden, Germany.
Currently, she regularly plays concerts in Germany, Belgium, France and India.
Joris Decolvenaer (born in Belgium, 1988) began playing the violin at the age of four with his mother and violin pedagogue, Marleen Dupont. Initially he pursued his higher education in USA, where he was a Music Performance Major in Mansfield University, PA in the class of Kenneth Sarch, pupil of Ivan Galamian and Dorothy DeLay.
As violinist of the Zerkalo Quartet, Joris plays concerts in Belgium, France, Germany and Italy. As soloist, he performed with the ‘Mansfield Chamber Orchestra’, the ‘August de Boeck kamerorkest’ and ‘Het Mechels Kamerorkest’.
Joris has been awarded several prizes in music competitions.
Nadine recently graduated with a Master of Arts Degree in Piano Performance at the Royal Academy of Music, London, studying under Colin Stone. She won the Jazz and Popular Music section at Music Quest 2011, gave her Young Talent Recital at the NCPA in 2012 and has performed in Mumbai, Goa, Kolkata, Mysore, Bangalore, Ahmedabad, Delhi and London.
