Mayor vows to streamline CCP administration

Stating that the people of Panaji have a lot of faith in him, Uday Madkaikar, who has been retained as Mayor of the Corporation of City of Panaji (CCP) for his second term, vowed that henceforth income certificate, birth certificate, marriage certificate and other certificates will be issued to inhabitants within 2 days.

Addressing the gathering consisting of councillors, CCP staffers and members of public at CCP’s conference hall, Madkaikar said that he plans to the make CCP office people-friendly.

He said, “We want to revamp this office and work in unison and cooperation with other departments and fulfill the aspirations of the residents as they have a lot of expectations from us.”

Madkaikar said that he will work under the guidance of the city MLA Atanasio ‘Babush’ Monserrate and take his advise so that he fulfills his dream to make Panaji city clean and green.

“We have introduced a system under which small businessmen are not made to suffer while paying taxes, renewing licenses etc. Deputy Mayor Wasant Agashikar has also assured to support in this endure,” Madkaikar said.

Earlier, CCP commissioner Sanjit Rodrigues formally declared Madkaikar and Agashikar elected unopposed as Mayor and deputy Mayor respectively. He also revealed that the third phase of market project work would be taken up on priority basis once the market tenant issue is resolved. He said that then the power department issue would also be resolved.

“City dwellers have complimented the Corporation for starting pay parking in the city as it has brought discipline on the roads,” he pointed out.
