Minister for Panchayats Mauvin Godinho has informed that the Union Minister for Civil Aviation Suresh Prabhu has agreed in principle to provide necessary equipment for the newly-inaugurated sub-district hospital at Chicalim and also for handling garbage in panchayat areas, falling within the radius of Dabolim airport, under corporate social responsibility (CSR) funds of the Airport Authority of India (AAI).
Godinho was speaking to media after launching development work of laying pavers, estimated to cost Rs 20 lakh at Gallint-Bogmalo, in the presence of Chicolna-Bogmalo sarpanch Virginia Rodrigues, panch members Arun Naik, Laxman Kavlekar, Inacio Figuereido, Sankalp Mahale, Rolin Fernandes and others.
He stated that the Union Minister for Civil Aviation has also agreed in principle to sanction any amount of funds for the purpose of providing equipment for the sub-district hospital and for handling of garbage by Chicalim and Chicolna-Bogmalo panchayats especially.
“The sub-district hospital at Chicalim will be managed jointly by the state government and AAI. I want the sub-district hospital to be on par with private hospital,” he said. He disclosed that he along with Health Minister Vishwajit Rane will be going to Delhi to meet the Union Civil Aviation Minister in view of the aforementioned issues. On the proposed garbage treatment plant at Verna, Godinho said that “plans are on fast track. I am also focusing on medium and long-term solutions to resolve the menace of garbage in panchayat areas”.
He said that whatever development happens in Dabolim constituency is planned in advance. He said problems of water and power supply, besides road connectivity, have been resolved.
“There were problems which were basically due to paucity of funds,” he stated.
He said he has plans to construct a ‘Club House’ at Chicalim near the old Flintstone Garden where all sorts of facilities will be made available for the people.
