Minister for Panchayats Mauvin Godinho has launched various development works, estimated to cost of Rs 1.86 crore, at JNC Viera Nagar in Chicolna-Bogmalo panchayat area and also at New Vaddem.
The works at JNC Viera Nagar consisting of widening and hot-mix carpeting of roads would cost Rs 1.80 crore, and the works at New Vaddem, including extension and laying of sewerage line, would cost Rs 6 lakh.
Meanwhile, Godinho also inaugurated a toilet block constructed by Goa Shipyard Ltd (GSL) under its corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiative at Housing Board Colony near Shree Jai Santoshi Mata Temple, New Vaddem in the presence of chairman and managing director of GSL Cmdr B B Nagal, Dabolim BJP Mahila Morcha president Anita Thorat and other officials of GSL.
“GSL has made a provision of Rs 1.20 crore, under its CSR initiative. Out of the total 6 toilet blocks, 2 toilet blocks meant for the gents and ladies have been constructed, while 4 toilet blocks are yet to be constructed,” said Godinho.
Each toilet block is estimated to cost Rs 20 lakh.
While speaking on the occasion, Godinho said that “facility of toilets at Housing Board Colony at New Vaddem will help to make the area defecation free, which is a vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi under Swachh Bharat Mission.”
He praised GSL for sanctioning funds for a good cause under its CSR initiative.
Godinho recently inaugurated ‘Cortalim Market Complex’ in the presence of Cortalim MLA Alina Saldanha, Cortalim sarpanch Angela Furtado, deputy sarpanch Raymond De Sa, parish priest of Cortalim Fr Diago Fernandes and others.
