Margao vendors confront Balli farmers over roadside sale


Some fruit vendors of South Goa Planning and Development Authority (SGPDA) market, Margao on Monday confronted vendors from Balli selling locally-produced fruits and vegetables along Margao-Fatorda circle road near Ravindra Bhavan asking them to stop the sale.

However, a vendor from Balli Sukhanti Velip said that vendors from SGPDA market threatened them and a couple of them even tried to assault them. She said that the area does not come under the SGPDA jurisdiction. Another vendor said that they pay sopo fees to the MMC.

An activist from Margao Promod Naik said that he will take up the issue with MMC and SGPDA authorities.
