Canacona: The second gram sabha of Loliem-Polem village panchayat, which was held on Sunday, saw barely 30 people attending it.
Welcoming the members, sarpanch Ajay Loliemkar spoke about his absence as the sarpanch for the next gram sabha, and stated that a new sarpanch will take charge.
Raising objection to an application submitted by Motesin Fernandes for digging a borewell at Madditolop plateau, the members pointed to an earlier resolution, wherein it was decided not to allow digging of borewells in the jurisdiction of the panchayat.
It was clarified that an NOC would not be issued to the applicant as earlier the panchayat had stopped digging of a borewell by a person from Shelim, and the matter is still in the court.
An unnamed application regarding the Mashem-Galgibaga river mud filling also came up for discussion during the gram sabha.
Replying to the mud-filling issue, the sarpanch explained clearly the instructions given by court to the concerned authority to remove the mud to restore the river to its original state.
Deputy sarpanch Jessica Corte, secretary Sandeep Desai, panch members, Nishant Prabhudesai, Sailesh Pagi, Bhusan Prabhugoankar, Alfansa Araujo and Nayan Bandekar were present.
