Goa, Mizoram share spoils

SHILLONG: Goa played out a goalless draw against Mizoram in the Dr BC Roy Trophy match in Shillong, on Tuesday. Goa put up a strong defensive performance in the first half which saw keeper Mahadev Gawade bring couple of good saves in the opening minutes of the game. In the second half, Goa started brightly as coach Charles made some changes. Jovito came in for Aryan and Caine was replaced by Crespo. In the dying minutes of the game, Goa’s Jovito Fernandes tried his luck but his well taken shot hit the side post. Goa’s striker Salgeo Dias was brilliant upfront. Goa next play Uttar Pradesh on January 30.

Mini U-14 Tennis Ball Cricket c’ship on Feb 15

PANAJI: Goa Tennis Ball Cricket Association will be organising the first Goa State Mini U-14 Tennis Ball Cricket Championship for boys and girls on February 15 at Kholpewadi, Sal, Bicholim. The championship is open for schools and primary schools where players born on or after January 1, 2008 are eligible. Kavlekar appointed VP of AAI

PANAJI: Chetan Kavlekar has been elected as the vice president of the Archery Association of India (AAI). Pramod Chandurkar has been elected as the Secretary General and Rajendra Tomar as the Treasurer of AAI. Kavlekar is also a Goa state awardee in physical education and sports.
