Cuncolim Union enter final

CHINCHINIM: Cuncolim Union entered the final of 2nd CRCC Cup football tournament defeating Betalbatim SC 8-7 via tie-breaker played at CRC, Chinchinim grounds on Tuesday. The teams played a 1-1 draw during regulation time. Cuncolim Union went into the lead in the 5th minute through Trenoy Dias whose angular effort gave no chance at all to the Betalbatim SC keeper. Betalbatim SC came back strong in the second session and after some hard play, levelled the score in the 48th minute through Klusner Pereira. In the following tie-breaker, Cuncolim Union were the better shooters.

Maina SC shoot five past Navelim

MAJORDA: Maina SC entered the quarter-finals of Fr Basilio Andrade Memoral football tournament hammering Navelim Sporting 5-2 played at Musson grounds, Majorda on Tuesday. Playing an attacking game right from the start, Maina SC’s Aleeward Mascarenhas and Aliston Fernandes scored a brace each, while Aleeward found the mark in the 20th and 50th minute to complete a double, Alistor Fernandes scored in the 40th and 41st minute. The other goal for the winners was scored by Milagres Fernandes. Navelim Sporting pulled two goals back through Aulon Gomes (45th minute) and Presly Gomes (60th minute).

Saripalli wins STCA All Goa Rapid Fide Rated Chess

MARGAO: Niraj Saripalli was crowned champ in the recently concluded STCA All Goa Open Rapid Fide Rated Chess Championship held in Margao. He defeated Gunjal Chopdekar in the final round and remained unbeated through the tournament. Reuben Colaco who drew in the last round finished second followed by Parth Salvi from Bardez cominig third. 

Rotary All Goa Open Chess C’ship from Nov 16

MARGAO: Salcete Taluka Chess Association will be conducting the Rotary All Goa Open Chess Championship at Margao from November 16 to 17. Those interested to participate should have GCA registration and the enteries close by Nov 15.
