Goa women beat Mizoram by 9 wickets

PANAJI: Goa women registered a comprehensive nine-wicket victory against Mizoram in the Womens Senior T20 Trophy Cricket 2019-20, at ADC ground in Secunderabad on Monday. Batting first against a disciplined Goa bowling attack, Mizoram women could post a paltry 79 for 5 in their allotted 20 overs. For Goa, Rupali Chavan and Sanjula Naik claimed two wickets each while Tejashwini Duragad took the other wicket. In reply, Goa chased down the target in just 11.4 overs but lost the wicket of Purvaja Verlekar (18). Shreya Parab top-scored with an unbeaten 45 while Roshan Kandgal remained not out on 11.

Enfermos SC edge Rumdamol SC

MANDOPA: Enfermos Sports Club scored a narrow 2-1 win over Rumdamol Sports Club in the GFA’s Third Division League match played at Mandopa ground, on Monday. Enfermos emerged victorious despite starting the match with only 10 players. Edward Dias put Enfermos SC ahead in the eighth minute. Chiston Mharsekar doubled the lead for Enfermos just before the breather. On crossing over, Rumdamol SC pull a goal back in the dying minutes of the game.

Fr Agnelo YSC down Ugem Rising

SANGUEM: Fr Agnelo Youth Sports Club, Paroda entered the quarterfinals of 17th Ugem Rising Club Trophy football tournament defeating Curotrim Gymkhana 10-9 via sudden death, at Ugem grounds, Sanguem on Monday. The teams played a goalless draw during the regulation time.

Alvito stars in SJD Areal win

VARCA: Sao Jose de Areal entered the quarterfinals of Varca Panchayat Cup football tournament defeating Chandor Club 3-1, at Varca grounds on Monday. Alvito Maura scored a brace for Sao Jose de Areal finding the mark in the 51st and 60th minute after his upfront partner Ignatious Olivera had provided the lead for the team in the 10th minute. Chandor Club pulled a goal back through Welson Fernandes in the 48th minute.

Yash Fadte enters finals

PANAJI: Ace Goan squash player Yash Fadte stormed into the finals of the HCL Junior National Squash Championship 2019, being held in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, as he got the better of Diwakar Singh of Uttar Pradesh in straight sets 11-5, 11-7, 11-2 in the semifinals played on Monday. In the finals, the 17-year-old Goan will take on Delhi No 1 and India No 2 Sankalp Anand.

SAG’s football trials for U-21 boys

PANAJI: The Sports Authority of Goa (SAG) will on October 25 conduct selection trials for U-21 boys to select Khelo India football team, at Bambolim Athletics Stadium from 3.30 pm. The players have been asked to report with proper playing kit, identity card and birth certificate at the above mentioned venue on given date and time.

CAC Cansaulim advance

UTORDA: CAC Sports Social Club, Cansaulim defeated United Club of Benaulim 3-1 to advance to quarters of 27th Lourdes Football Festival Tournament, organised by United Club of Utorda, at SAG ground, Utorda on Monday. Prasad Bagli (17’), Kenneth Dacosta (37’) and Cansio Soares (39’) scored a goal each for Cansaulim, while Clinton Fernandes scored the lone goal for UC Benaulim in the 65th minute.
